In a vibrant display of community unity and engagement, the annual Lynwood Commitment project took center stage last month, showcasing another successful beautification of a beloved Lynwood school, Lincoln Elementary.
The Lynwood Commitment – a partnership that includes Lynwood Unified, the City of Lynwood and the Reformed Church of Los Angeles – aimed not only to enhance the community and school’s surroundings but also leave a lasting impression on students’ spirits for years to come.
Building on the momentum of the clean-up at Will Rogers Elementary back in April, Lincoln Elementary’s event on October 12 featured students, staff, families and volunteers enthusiastically planting fresh flowers, picking up trash and debris, and painting a new mural designed by artist Ritchie Kong.
Stretching across a classroom wall in front of Lincoln Elementary’s playground, the eye-catching mural reads “Respect, Understand, Lead, Excel,” reflecting the school’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) values that students will carry with them throughout their educational journeys.
Lynwood Unified is proud to foster safe, clean environments for students and staff, with the colorful new mural serving as a daily reminder of the leadership skills the District strives to instill in all students from an early age to ensure future success.
