Lynwood Unified Schools Kick Off Community Clean-Up Days to Beautify Campuses

Lynwood Unified School District has kicked off a series of Community Site Clean-Up Days designed to beautify school campuses and foster community spirit. The initiative began on September 21 at Hosler Middle School, where students, staff, and parents volunteered to clean up the school’s exterior, demonstrating their commitment to maintaining a positive environment for learning.

Taking place throughout October and November, the events will enhance the appearance of Lynwood Unified campuses while providing an opportunity for students and their families to come together with a shared sense of purpose and pride in creating welcoming school environments.

“When students, families, and staff come together to improve their schools, they build connections that strengthen our entire District,” Assistant Superintendent of Business Services Gretchen Janson, Ed.D., said. “I encourage everyone to take part in these events and help make a lasting difference. Let’s all work together to beautify our schools and show pride in our community!”

The next scheduled beautification will take place at Helen Keller Elementary School at 9 a.m. on Friday, September 27, and Lugo and Washington elementary schools on Saturday, October 5. Lincoln Elementary School’s clean-up will coincide with the Lynwood Commitment Project, a collaboration between the District, the City of Lynwood, and the Reformed Church of Los Angeles during which volunteers will clean up the school and surrounding community on October 12.

The clean-up efforts reflect Lynwood Unified's dedication to maintaining inviting, safe spaces for students to thrive, while also engaging the wider community. The District looks forward to seeing students, parents, and staff work side by side to keep Lynwood schools looking their best.
